How ANC and passive isolation work
- ANC uses built-in microphones and electronics to sample outside noise and create an opposite sound wave to cancel it.
- Passive isolation uses the ear adapters (ear tips) to physically block noise in your ear canal.
Most True Wireless ANC models use a single-microphone feed-forward ANC system in each earbud.
What to expect
ANC is most effective at reducing low-frequency noises (for example, engine hum and air conditioning). Higher-frequency sounds like voices are harder to cancel. A good seal from the ear tips helps.
Fit and how to improve performance
Choose ear adapters that fit your ears well. The right size and a proper seal improve both comfort and ANC performance. If you notice less cancellation, try a different tip size or adjust how the tips sit in your ears.
Limitations
ANC cannot remove all sounds. Some residual noise may remain, especially in very loud environments or with abrupt sounds. Performance varies by model and how well the headphones fit you.
