Troubleshooting Bluetooth Headband Sensor and Touch Controls
Updated
Play/pause touch controls don’t always register
Use the middle area of the touchpad to trigger commands. Commands near the edge may not register.
Some devices or apps may not register AVRCP (Bluetooth playback commands) consistently, which can cause occasional failures.
Audio gaps or crackling after pressing play
A short delay can occur between sending the command and the headphone responding. This delay depends on the Bluetooth chip in the source device and the operating system.
If your device has many background tasks, closing unnecessary apps or processes can speed up response time for AVRCP commands.
USB connection: auto-pause and play behave oddly
When connected via USB-C, auto-pause/play can seem opposite. If playback starts when you remove the headphones and pauses when you put them on, pause playback on the source device the first time you remove them. After that, the “smart pause” should work as expected for the rest of the session.
Playback resumes when you set the headphones down
This is usually due to sensor detection (sensor occlusion).
Headband Headphones released after 2022 use infrared sensors in the earcups to detect wearing.
If you place the earcups face-down on a desk, the sensors may misread wearing status and start playback. To reduce this:
When not in use, place the cushions facing up.
If playback starts or stops incorrectly, reposition the earcups on your head so the sensors detect wearing more reliably.
