Some apps have an Automatic Microphone Adjustment feature that mutes or reduces the mic after a period of silence. This comes from the app or computer settings, not the headphones.
Turn off Automatic Microphone Adjustment in the app's settings. If you cannot find that option, adjust your computer settings instead.
In the app
- Zoom: Settings > Audio > turn off "Automatically adjust microphone volume."
- Slack: Preferences > Audio & Video > turn off "Automatically adjust microphone volume."
- Google Meet: During a meeting, open Settings > Audio and turn off "Automatically adjust microphone volume."
On the computer
Windows
Open the app and look for "Automatically adjust microphone" in its audio settings. If not available, go to Windows Settings > System > Sound > Microphone and turn off any auto-adjust options or set the mic level manually.
Mac
Turn off "Automatically adjust microphone volume" in the app's preferences. If not available, go to System Preferences > Sound > Input and adjust the input level manually.
After making changes
- Reconnect your headphones after changing any setting.
- Test with a quick call to confirm the mic stays on.
- If you still cannot find the option, search online for "Automatic Microphone Adjustment" + the name of your app (e.g., "Automatic Microphone Adjustment Zoom") for precise steps.
- If the mic still mutes, try disabling the setting in both the app and the computer settings.
