The AMBEO Soundbar has two acoustic modes: Soundbar Only Mode and Soundbar + Subwoofer Mode. A separate calibration is required for each mode.
Important: Run the initial calibration before connecting your subwoofer cable. If the subwoofer is connected when calibration starts, the soundbar will automatically run the subwoofer calibration.
How the soundbar detects the subwoofer
The soundbar detects a subwoofer via the Subwoofer Out port. If a cable is plugged into this port, the soundbar automatically switches to Soundbar + Subwoofer Mode, cuts off all frequencies below 80Hz, and sends them to the subwoofer. The second calibration will then adjust the subwoofer's levels.
Troubleshooting subwoofer calibration
During subwoofer calibration, the soundbar display will show "Leveling." If the soundbar does not detect the subwoofer, the calibration will fail.
Common causes of calibration failure
- Subwoofer is turned off.
- Subwoofer volume is too low.
- Crossover frequency is set too low on the subwoofer.
- Subwoofer cable is not connected properly.
Steps to resolve calibration issues
- Power on the subwoofer and ensure it is fully on.
- Adjust the crossover frequency to between 90Hz and 120Hz. Try different settings to find the best one.
- Set the volume to the manufacturer's recommended default level (usually 25–50%).
- Check the cable connection – ensure the subwoofer cable is in good condition and connected correctly.
Additional checks
- Confirm the subwoofer volume is turned up and that any mute or pad settings are disabled.
- If your subwoofer supports stereo input, make sure you are using the left (LFE) input.
- Position the subwoofer towards the front of the room, slightly off-center, especially in larger rooms.
- If the subwoofer is at the back of the room or uses a long cable, you may experience latency or phase cancellation. This can also occur with wireless subwoofers or multiple subwoofers.
Check the Smart Control app
Make sure the subwoofer volume has not been reduced in the Smart Control app or any app provided by the subwoofer manufacturer. Using in-app volume controls instead of physical controls is a common cause of the "Increase Sub Level" error message.
Final step
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try repositioning the subwoofer to help with phase cancellation.
