Many apps have an independent volume adjustment that applies before the phone's volume settings.
Android
Separate volume controls (two sliders)
- Set both controls to minimum.
- Raise the headphone volume to about halfway.
- Gradually increase the phone's volume to your desired level.
- Use the headphone volume for final adjustments.
Absolute Volume (one shared control)
Only one volume control is active – you can use either the phone's control or the headphones' control, but not both separately. If you prefer separate control, look for an option to disable Absolute Volume in Developer Options (path varies by device).
iPhone (iOS)
- iPhone uses a single combined volume control for Bluetooth devices. Both the iPhone's volume buttons and the headphones' control adjust the same overall volume.
- For more precise control, iPhone also has a Bluetooth volume slider – swipe up on the phone screen to reveal the volume bar and adjust from there.
